The top three genesis points of this year’s Korea Professional Golf (KPGA) Tour will be seeded for next year’s DP World Tour (formerly European Tour).
The Korea Professional Golf Association (Chairman Koo Ja-cheol) and the DP World Tour announced on the 2nd that they had signed a strategic business agreement on the 30th of last month at Jack Nicklaus GC in Incheon. The signing ceremony was attended by several officials, including KPGA Chairman Koo Ja-cheol and DP World Tour Chief Executive Officer Ben Cowen. 메이저사이트
Under this agreement, the DP World Tour decided to give the 16th category seed to the KPGA Tour genesis point first place player and the 17th category seed to the other top two players. The 16th category seed on the DP World Tour can compete in most matches except for the Rolex Series. The No. 17 category seed can play in slightly fewer competitions than the No. 16 seed.
Unlike the past, where only the Genesis Grand Prize winner was seeded on the DP World Tour, this agreement increased the number of seeded players to three. In addition, it was decided to give the players with the highest Genesis points the right to go directly to the final round and the second round of the DP World Tour Q School. A total of 4 players will receive this privilege (1 final match, 3 second match) this season, but next year, a total of 9 players (3 final match, 6 second match) decided to expand it.
In addition, the KPGA Tour and the DP World Tour have decided to hold a co-sponsored tournament in Korea once a year by 2025. The KPGA Tour and DP World Tour held the Korea Championship jointly at Jack Nicklaus GC for four days from the 27th of last month.
