Forgotten pitcher Julio Teheran, 32, is looking to get back into the big leagues.
Teheran signed a minor league deal with the Milwaukee Brewers, John Heyman of the New York Post reported on social media on Thursday. Teheran went 4-2 with a 5.63 ERA at Triple-A El Paso for the San Diego Padres this season.
Milwaukee has too many pitching injuries right now. Eric Lauer is out, along with Wade Miley and Brandon Woodruff. Aaron Ashby and Jason Alexander, both of whom started more than 10 games last year, are also on the disabled list (IL). Teheran is expected to get a chance in the starting rotation rather than the bullpen.안전놀이터
The Colombian native finished fifth in the National League (NL) Rookie of the Year voting in 2013. He went 14-8 with a 3.20 ERA for the Atlanta Braves that year. Ryu finished fourth in NL Rookie of the Year voting. First place went to Jose Fernandez. After playing in Atlanta through 2019, Teheran moved to the Los Angeles Angels in 2020, where he struggled, going 4-4 with a 10.05 ERA. In 2021, he made one start for the Detroit Tigers. Last year, he made no big league appearances at all.
During his time in Atlanta, Teheran was a Class A starter. He accumulated 77 wins (73 losses) in nine years. But after leaving Atlanta, he became a 180-degree different pitcher. It remains to be seen if he can rebound in the ‘injury ward’ of Milwaukee. Teheran’s last big league start was on April 4, 2021, against the Cleveland Indians (now the Cleveland Indians).
