FC Seoul head coach Ahn Ik-soo congratulated Kim Joo-sung on his first call-up to the A team in June.
FC Seoul will host Incheon United at the Incheon Football Stadium on 7 July at 7.30pm in the 17th round of the Hana OneQ K League 1 2023 ‘Gyeongin Derby’.
Seoul are currently fourth in the table (8 wins, 3 draws, 5 losses, 27 points) after a 0-1 defeat away to Daegu in the previous round. Incheon are 10th (4W, 6D, 6L, 18P) after a 3-1 win away to Daejeon in the previous round, but can leapfrog Suwon FC into ninth place with a win today.
Seoul head coach Ahn Ik-soo spoke to the media before the game and said, “As much as it was disappointing (to lose to Daejeon), we will try not to allow another disappointment.”
“We have good memories, but sometimes you get the results you want in a round and sometimes you don’t,” said Ahn, who won the season opener against Incheon. “We need to come back with a quick recovery and tie it up with a good result.”먹튀검증
“That’s also important, but we always want to show our fans good football, and within that, we can bring content and results to make them happy, and I think that’s the process right now,” Ahn said.
“Of course, we need goals, but more importantly, we need to improve ourselves and bring results. Trying to complete that part is what we need to play for.”
As for Go Yo-han and Kim Kyung-min, who have recently returned from injury, he said, “There are expectations in practice, but the game might be different. They have a lot of experience and we’ve seen some good things from them in practice. I think we will see those things in the match as well.”
When asked how satisfied he was with his team’s performance so far, halfway through the 33-game regular season, Ahn said, “Satisfaction is not the right word. There are always a lot of variables and we are still trying to maintain and develop our style. We are in the middle of that process to give our fans a good feeling of happiness.”
“I once asked the players to discuss our goals in the winter. The players’ answer was, firstly, to show good football to the fans, and then Final A plus alpha. We are in that process now. If we can develop further and tie it up with a good story, there is nothing better than that.”
Kim Joo-sung will wear the captain’s armband for the first time. “It’s about the national team, isn’t it?” asked Ahn, who was called up by Jürgen Klinsmann for his first cap ahead of the A-League match in June.
“During the winter training in Thailand, Joo-sung told me to think about why I’m here,” Ahn said. “I hope my last dream is the A team, I hope that’s the goal.”
“It’s important to stick to the process and prepare to produce another plan for the goal, and it’s become a reality,” he said. “He always spends a lot more time on football than other players. My hope is that even if (Kim) Min-jae or (Kim) Young-kwon comes in, that spot will be occupied by Ju-sung’s ability and it will be an opportunity for her to try harder and improve to have that time.”
