Adam Taggart (29, Australia), former top scorer in the K-League, finished his career in Japan and returned to his home country.
Australian A-League Perth Glory said on the 15th (Korean time), “We signed a three-and-a-half-year contract with Taggart, who played for Cerezo Osaka in Japan’s J-League. Taggart will officially become a Perth Glory player when the transfer window opens this coming winter.”
Taggart is a striker who made his professional debut with Perth Glory in 2011. He subsequently played for Newcastle Jets (Australia), Fulham (England) and Dundee (Scotland) before returning to Perth Glory from 2016 to 2018. He scored 22 goals in 48 A-League appearances for Perth alone.
He also left a distinct impact in the K-League. In the 2019 season, he wore a blue uniform for Suwon Samsung and scored 20 goals in 33 appearances in the K-League. Taggart became the top scorer in the K League 1 that season. He played two fewer games and scored one more goal than runner-up Junio (Ulsan Hyundai at the time). Having been active in Suwon until the 2020 season, he moved to Cerezo Osaka in Japan ahead of the 2021 season.
Taggart, who returned to his hometown team Perth after about five years, said, “If he came back to Australia, he would definitely be in Perth. Perth Glory is a team that means a lot to me. It’s the team I’ve been rooting for since I was young, and it’s the team that helped me grow. I received a lot of love when I played for this team,” he said of his return.
“I want to show the best of myself in front of my family and friends. I am only 29 now. I can show good performance in Perth,” he said. “I went to Macedonia Park (Perth home stadium) on the weekend. The excitement he felt when he was young came back to life.”
Perth coach Ruben Zadkovic said: “I’ve watched Taggart grow for a long time. He grew up as the best striker in the A-League and was also selected for the national team. Taggart has all the strengths a striker should have. He is a dedicated player for the team. He is the right person to bring Perth to the top.”
Taggart is a frequent pick for the Australian national team. The 19-year-old was first selected in 2012 and played in two matches at the 2014 World Cup in Brazil메이저사이트. After that, his call to the national team was cut off, but in June 2019, he returned to the national team in a friendly A match against Korea. He also started in a friendly against New Zealand in September of this year, but was not selected for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar.
