Foreign pitcher Eric Peddie (30, NC Dinos) claimed to be the KBO League’s ‘1st batting instructor’.
According to the NC club,먹튀검증 Peddie met privately with right-handed pitcher Moon Dong-ju (20, Hanwha Eagles) last month. The reason he took his personal time to sit with a new pitcher from another club was because of a ‘player request.’ An official from the NC club explained, “Dong-ju Moon told a Hanwha foreign scout (during the trip to Changwon) that he wanted to meet Peddy. The meeting was arranged because Hanwha’s foreign scout was close to Peddy’s agent.” The agent in charge of Pedi is Lee Jeong-moon, Korean general director of Boras Corporation, who previously served as an interpreter at NC.
The meeting between Peddie and Moon Dong-ju is worthy of causing a stir. Dong-ju Moon is a second-year professional with rookie qualifications. On April 12, in the game against the Gwangju KIA Tigers, he hit a 160.1 km/h fastball into the catcher’s mitt. Moon Dong-ju was the first domestic pitcher to exceed 160 km/h since 2011, when Sports2I, a baseball statistics company, introduced the Pitch Tracking System (PTS). He is a promising player who was also named to the Hangzhou Asian Games (AG) baseball team.
Peddie is the best pitcher in the KBO League, aiming for the Triple Crown this season. He readily accepted Moon Dong-ju’s request to meet and also sought prior understanding from the club to prevent any possible misunderstandings. Rumor has it that while meeting with Moon Dong-ju, they exchanged various stories related to baseball. Dongju Moon actively explained the parts he was curious about and helped with understanding.
Peddie played in the U.S. Major League Baseball (MLB) until last season. His overall MLB record (6 years) is 21 wins, 33 losses, and an average ERA of 5.41. Starting in 2021, he has been in the starting rotation for two consecutive years and has been responsible for more than 120 innings. His performance last year was 6 wins, 13 losses, and an average ERA of 5.81. Looking at his career, he may be sassy, but Pedi was different. There is no hesitation in disclosing know-how. Even the grips for pitches that may be sensitive are revealed.
He said Sweeper, a type of deforming slider, is one of them. Shohei Ohtani (LA Angels)’s main weapon, the sweeper, is still an unfamiliar pitch in the KBO League. Many players want to know Peddie’s sweeper grip, and every time they do, Peddie ‘kindly’ tells them. He doesn’t care if he’s a player from another team. A team official said, “We checked to see if there was an issue of power exposure on the field, and the coach (NC Kang In-kwon) said it was okay if the player didn’t care. If a former MLB player explains the sweeper, which is rare in Korea, in detail, wouldn’t it be good for amateur players as well?” He welcomed me.
Peddie said, “I am sharing (know-how) with the hope that each player will become the best in his/her position while playing baseball,” and added, “If the things I have talked about come out to Dong-ju Moon, wouldn’t the league grow that much and make baseball more fun?”
