Ryu Hyun-jin, who has been rehabbing since his Tommy John surgery, made a surprise appearance with the Toronto Blue Jays.
Ryu appeared at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida, on Nov. 23 (KST). The Blue Jays are playing an away game against the Tampa Bay Rays.토토사이트
Ryu has been focusing on his rehabilitation in Dunedin, Florida, the team’s spring training location. It’s been a long time since he’s been with the team, as the Rays are scheduled to travel to St. Petersburg from April 23-26.
Toronto welcomed Ryu to the team with a post on its official Twitter account that read, “Happy to see Ryu,” followed by a video of Ryu walking onto the field and striking a V-pose.
“Hyun-jin Ryu will be throwing out of the bullpen today at Tropicana Field,” Toronto fansite Bluebird Ventures added.
Ryu, who is 75-45 with a 3.27 ERA in his big league career, was shut down after six games last year. His last start was on June 2 against the Chicago White Sox.
According to broadcaster Hazel May, Toronto manager John Schneider said, “We don’t have a timetable for Ryu’s return. But the rehabilitation process is going well,” Schneider said.
The fact that he pitched out of the bullpen suggests that he’s in good shape. Ryu is expected to return to the mound in mid-July, after a series of live pitches and bullpens.
Ryu underwent Tommy John surgery on his left elbow last June and has been rehabbing ever since. Ryu signed a four-year, $80 million contract with Toronto ahead of the 2020 season. This season is the final year of that contract.
