Captain Ahn Chi-hong (33-Lotte Giants), who led the Giants to maintain their ‘momentum’ for two months, was named the team’s May MVP (Most Valuable Player).
Lotte announced the award on 5 May, saying, “We selected players who performed exceptionally well in the month of May, and selected Ahn Chi-hong as the Dasom Home Service Monthly MVP for his excellent performance last month.”
Ahn Chi-hong is Lotte’s captain this year. This is his fourth year with the team after signing as a free agent in 2020. After batting .282 with 22 doubles, one home run and 11 RBIs in 87 at-bats in April, he continued his steady offensive output in May, batting .274 with 20 doubles, one home run and 12 RBIs in 87 at-bats. He also drew twice as many walks (10) as he did in April (5) and struck out less than half as many times (5) as he did in April (11). Defensively, the team anchored the infield, not recording a single error.
The team, led by Ahn Chi-hong as captain, has continued to fight for the top spot in the standings through May and into June. Lotte is in third place with 29 wins and 19 losses (0.604 winning percentage) after five days. They are just two games behind leaders SSG Landers. The ‘momentum’ of their nine-game winning streak at the beginning of May continues unabated.메이저놀이터
